Bridal Shower - Planning a Bridal Shower Tips
A bridal shower parties are those that are always fun and realistic at the same time. The apparent reason for organizing a bridal shower is to give materials things to the future married couple that will help them to make home together. But the real bottom reason for a bridal shower is an opportunity for the close family members and friends of the bride to spend time with her before the wedding day. It is also an avenue for sharing of funny stories, and also for the relatives to give the bride advice, and her friends to show their support. That particular day, the bride is the princess of the day, so make sure in your planning you don’t do anything that will make her feel less so.
A bridal shower is usually hosted by the maid-of-honor and bridesmaids. Although it used to be considered as poor etiquette for family members of the bride to host the shower, but times has changed and it is now acceptable.
Here are some other ideas to considered as you plan the bridal shower:
- The shower parties is usually held within eight weeks to the wedding, up to two weeks before the wedding day.
- You shouldn’t invite guests who have not been invited to the wedding to the shower party .
- You will need to decide before the day of the shower party whether it will be a traditional ‘girls only’ event or a couples party, often referred to as a “Jack and Jill” shower.
- Any time of day is suitable, but usually showers parties are afternoon events.
- Games that can act as ice breakers for the party are mostly good idea if many of the guests don’t know one another already.
- Prompt the bride to register for gifts. With so many couples abiding on their own before getting married, it is quite difficult for guests to guess which gifts will be suitable.
- Advise the bride to include economical number of inexpensive items on her registry for guests with limited budgets.
- You will need to decide well in advance if the party is going to be held at a home or in a restaurant or other local facilities. Nowadays, a lot of shower planners chooses activities instead of the traditional finger food/gift opening shower. For example, many bridal parties take the bride for a day outing at the spa instead of a shower. Or for an active Jack and Jill shower, the party could be a beach barbecue complete with volleyball, Frisbee, music and dancing.
- Unless you feel is necessary to surprise the bride, involve her in the bridal shower planning. Ask her if there is a specific theme she would like for her shower. Some popular themes are: kitchen item showers, lingerie showers, around-the-clock showers (where everyone is assigned a time of day for which to select a gift) and travel gift showers.
- You shouldn’t forget in your planning to include party favors gifts for the guests. These can be traditional favors such as small boxes of chocolate. Or it can be something that relates to the theme of the shower, for instance, drawer sachets at a lingerie shower.
